6.8L Triton V8 Engine Overview
Continuing to the others Ford Modular engine specifications, if previously we are discussing about 5.4L Triton engine, now we are move the bigger engine from this modular engine family, the 6.8L Triton V10 Engine, this engine is use for heavy duty pickup truck that was produce by Ford motors company, detailed about what kinds of heavy duty pickup trucks you will see on the last of this article, the engine came with total 10 pieces of cylinders and it was installed with V configuration. Just like the 5.4L Triton engine, this V10 engine also accommodate multiple valves option, but different with the previous one, there are only two option where available, following are detailed valves available on this engine series.
- 6.8L Triton V10 Engine with 2 valves
- 6.8L Triton V10 Engine with 3 valves
The 6.8L Engine has split-pin crank with 72° firing intervals and a balance shaft to quell vibrations inherent to a 90° bank angle V10 engine. What actually balance shaft is? Balance shaft is an eccentric weighted shaft which offsets vibrations in engine designs that are not inherently balanced. Back to the engine specs overview, this engine is came with 3.552 x 4.165 in of bore and stroke specs and absolutely the engine power is vary following the variation of valves option.
